A few months ago, I took a jewelry making class in Old Town Alexandria that was led by a lovely polish woman who asked us a peculiar question. She told us how much she missed her mother’s home cooking, and that no matter many times she tried to replicate her mother’s traditional Polish dishes – she couldn’t make them taste the same way in her own kitchen.
