Ravi Kabob in Arlington has daily rotating specials in addition to their regular menu of chicken, lamb, beef and fish kabobs. Kofta curry with beef meatballs and hard boiled eggs is served only on Wednesdays along with a few other specials, like chicken curry and vegetarian “Aalo mutter”–fresh potatoes stewed with peas and onions in a fragrant mix of herbs and masala.
Kofta curry is a traditional tomato-based Pakistani sauce with chunks of beef that tastes like a fragrant, spicy version of marinara. At Ravi Kabob, it is served with golfball-sized meatballs and hard-boiled eggs, which I like to mash up and mix in with my rice. You’re given naan to tear up and dip into the remainder of your kofta sauce, which they give you lots of!
The next thing I want to try is the “mughaz masala”…. Aka the lamb brains! Unfortunately it is only prepared for two, and I still haven’t found anyone brave enough to try it with me… Any takers? 😉
P.S. I’m using the bamboo and WordPress app on iPad to create this post! I’m practicing so I can post as I go during my trip to New York this weekend! I snapped the photo above with my iPad and did the writing with my little stylus on the bamboo app. Hope you like!
