Masa 14 Appoints New Executive Chef Adam Goldman

by Jennie Tai on September 18, 2012

Rooftop

Taking the reins of this Asian-Fusion rooftop bar and restaurant is Masa 14‘s former sous chef, Adam Goldman.

Goldman has introduced a new Autumn cocktail menu with two new drinks including the Masa Smoked Cidermezcal, cinnamon-infused whiskey, mulled apple cider, fresh lemon (my favorite between the two); and Autumn on 14th  – bourbon, balsamic syrup, brown sugar, ginger beer, fresh basil.

A few of the chef’s newest additions to the revamped menu include a Cornmeal Crusted Oysters dish with butter lettuce, lemon togarashi aioli, green papaya slaw, and pickled fresno chilies and a plate of Salmon Tartar with roasted red pepper, green mango chimichurri, and togarashi toasted wonton crisps.

I enjoyed the sweet corn soup and deep fried oysters most out of the five samples. A little part of me always dies when I hear that a perfectly raw oyster was battered and tossed into a deep fryer, but I don’t mind when they’re lightly battered and not too overcooked.

But I may have been partial to the gorgeous weather and atmosphere. I have a soft spot for rooftop bars after all, and now that the weather is getting cooler - Masa 14‘s upstairs patio makes for the perfect spot to unwind.
