Beer English Falls Church

Falls Church's New English Pub

From Scotch Eggs, to Sheperd’s Pie; and from Waffle Stations to Bloody Mary Bars – Falls Church finally has a great new spot for ‘proper’ English cuisine that not only has a cozy family dining area, but also moonlights as a rustic sports bar around the corner in the back of the restaurant.

{ Oatmeal Stout }

It’s not a secret that I love stout. I order it wherever it’s offered, and one of the huge reasons why I love Public House 7 is because they carry one of my favorites – Oatmeal Stout. They also carry quite a few other beers, but if you like something smooth, rich and on the heavier side – you’ll enjoy the Oatmeal Stout.

{ Sheperd’s Pie | Lamb Shank }

Braised lamb shank in red wine sauce with mashed potatoes and hand-tossed garlic spinach makes for a perfect Sunday dinner to end the weekend. There’s absolutely nothing to sigh about here, as the tender meat falls off the bone and leaves no lingering traces of gaminess at all. You’ll want to dip every part of this dish in the delicious red wine gravy though, so take your time and enjoy this meal as you sit back and watch the game on one of the 5 big screens in the bar section with a few friends.

It’s also nice to have finally found a restaurant that offers a proper Sheperd’s Pie; a classic English dish that starts with ground beef, carrots, peas and gravy, topped with mashed potatoes and a buttery puff pastry – and also comes with ‘chips’. 😉 Also – if you read the menu and get confused with some of the words or names – check the back for translations. For example – “Bap” is an English slang for a soft sandwich bun, “Rockets” means arugula lettuce leaves, and “Crisps” is what Americans would call Potato Chips.

{ Home Made Scones }

The home made scones with whipped cream and fresh berries was the perfect way to end this meal on a lighter note. After having a massive dinner with a few beers – you might even want to consider splitting this.
